Trends. They’re fickle, yet paramount. Often unpredictable yet somehow are able to factor into predictive metrics. They are here without warning and gone before you know it, but important and status quo-shaking nevertheless.
Ok sorry I know that was cryptic. Basically, trends come and go. Some stick, some don’t. Trends are only trending until… well… until they’re not. In which case, we then all have new trends to talk about. Trending topics are always a major point of discussion amongst us at Protis Global. We love to share articles and information about the latest and greatest then predict whether it’s here to stay or a short-lived wave.
So the question is, why do we pay any mind to them at all?
The short answer is, because you have to know the industry you’re operating in. PAY ATTENTION AND DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. Exposure and knowledge is the only way to know what is a fad and what is an advance or advantage.
Wouldn’t more benefit come from betting on what is 100% known and stick to the plan?
First of all, it’s not a bet if its 100% certain and we all know nothing in business is 100%. You have to be responsive in your industry just to stay alive in today’s fast-paced business environment and being cognizant of trends are a part of that mindfulness.
Regardless, we all agree that it is imperative to be educated on these trends. We talk about them, so we thought you might like to listen in! So let’s get to it!
This week we’ll be talk about hiring trends in cannabis industry.
The opportunities for anyone wanting to contribute to the cannabis industry are extremely open. There are so many more roles besides, growers, trimmers, distributors, budtenders, and brand ambassadors. These are still potentially massive companies afterall. Think of a cannabis company a bit like you would an adult beverage company crossed with a startup FMCG company. There is a need for the basic infrastructure that all emerging and growing businesses need; however, in addition to roles like CFO and Director of Marketing, cannabis companies tend to need compliance managers and regulatory officers, product development and lab testing positions, as well as brand ambassadors with an extended list of required skills. Cultural experts/consultants and culinary/confectionary experts and consultants are also an area with a ton of opportunity.
We know we have some skin in this game, but it’s TRUE there are job boards and recruitment events and venues but cannabis industry-focused recruitment is making a major impact on the growth and development of most of the major entities in the cannabis space right now. The vetting, and keen eye for transferable skills helps recruiters find candidates that are functionally aligned and capable since experience in this industry is virtually nonexistent therefore not a foundational component of hiring parameters.
