Job Title: Sr. Manager – Material Planning
Summary: The Sr. Manager Material Planning will effectively manage a team of associates responsible for ensuring the short- and long-term supply of raw and packaging materials to support the production plans at both internal and external manufacturing sites. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for Materials Management and develop best practices to be implemented throughout the company.
Job Duties: Operational Material Planning (40%) • Responsible for leading the Material team to ensure that materials needed to execute production plans have been ordered, hold suppliers accountable for delivering quality materials, long term forecasts shared with suppliers have been reviewed and align to supply plan, and that inventory of materials is properly managed. • Develop inventory management best practices that will ensure inventory optimization and an ongoing review of safety stock, excess, slow moving, and obsolete inventory. • Identify material issues or supply constraints, develop contingency plans, and escalate accordingly to the business. • KPI and loss tree analysis with Material Planners and Sites on a routine basis. Team needs to understand and implement corrective actions to address and minimize losses (e.g. material delays, planning losses, off-quality materials, etc.). Technical Functions (20%) • Ability to efficiently and accurately perform ad hoc analysis and detailed reporting to show trends, site performance, and flag any potential risks. • Maintain Material Planning KPI’s and reporting standards. • Implement best practice for material planning and inventory management. • Continuously improve material planning processes/systems by identifying opportunities and implementing initiatives. Logistical Functions (20%) • Collaborate with Category Procurement Managers during Supply Reviews and in Strategic Sourcing Events. • Responsible for providing feedback to Supply Team regarding supply gaps or potential impacts to service. • Collaborates with Sites and Sr. Manager Supply Planning to effectively manage the end-to-end Supply network. • Drive supply chain cost reduction through sourcing network optimization. Team & Leadership Functions (20%) • Provide opportunities for growth and development of direct reports. • Work with team to develop SOP’s and develop best practices to share amongst the team. • Lead and develop core planning meetings, with accompanying agendas, inputs, and action items. • Play a leadership role in projects; ensure resources assigned, timelines developed, project status reported, and objectives are met.
Background Requirements: Qualifications, Education, & Experience • 10+ years of manufacturing and/or supply chain planning experience. • Minimum 3 or more in a manager role. • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field. • Additional post-graduate educational achievements such as an MBA or APICS Certification is desirable. • A solid knowledge of Supply Chain management with the ability to think logically in a fast-changing environment is essential. Strong understanding of supply planning, forecasting techniques, and operational systems. Skills & Abilities • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, lead, chip in and influence others. • Excellent people skills which include being able to build and maintain effective and credible relationships with key partners internally and externally. • Comfortable handling large amount of data and detail while having the ability to see the big picture to prioritize workload efficiently. • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), team commitment and ability to work cross-functionally. • Adaptable and flexible to the changing business needs but also laser-focused at being able to execute standard daily and monthly responsibilities. • Possess “Can do” demeanor and believes anything is possible with the right focus. • Able to work independently and “roll up your sleeves” to make things happen. • High intensity great teammate who thrives in a fast-paced, high intensity, dynamic environment. • Open (no agendas), honest and dependable. • Results-oriented individual with a desire to lead change through to fruition. • Validated ability to deal effectively with others in a diverse environment.
