Managing Director – Plant Manager

Summary:

Outline

The Managing Director leads the operational development of the North American supply chains. 6 years since a ground up factory build and development of local growing the business has progressed from start-up to a stable platform for growth. The next Managing Director will lead the business to capture critical opportunities and fill factory capacity, leading the business to a more mature position.
Key Responsibilities:
– Accountable for financial performance (full P&L), establishing budgets and financial projections and justifying variances and deviation
– Working with Senior Management Team, Board Members and the wider G’s Group stakeholders to implement and develop the short-, medium- & long-term strategy
– Capture the company’s strategic goals and ESG into practical operational plans
– Board interaction
– Close working relationship with and delivery of sales and marketing strategies aligned with factory interests and the long term health of the brand
– Develop and promote new business opportunities in line with the strategic objectives
– Ensure Health & Safety, including Food Safety standards are maintained at the appropriate level, with monitoring systems and continuous improvement plans in place and relevant
– Act as an ambassador in the wider industry and communities in farming, R&D, food manufacturing and local industry
– Support a People and Product focused culture, growing a resilient and differentiated business
– Drive product and process development, identifying and executing on creative solutions for consumers and business challenges

– Build competitive points of difference vs imported products and use US growing and manufacturing to be more agile in the market
– Utilize the brand to connect with consumers and maximize the value returned to the factory
– Fill factory capacity and utilization of existing assets
– Generate cash reserves to finance key development projects
– Minimize non-added value handling costs in the supply chain

Person Specification

A motivated and assured leader with experience in developing high-performing operational teams to deliver excellent results. Board level experience essential.

The appropriate candidate will have the following attributes:
– Able to operate autonomously while also integrated into a broader Group corporate structure
– Credibility and highly driven by building meaningful, sustainable relationships with colleagues and partners across various geographies
– Experience of working in manufacturing and / or operations and ideally in fresh food manufacturing – the candidate should be able to demonstrate what good looks like in manufacturing and supply chain
– Financial acumen
– Knowledge of the sector with appropriate contacts & business connections
– Comfortable leading change with energy and enthusiasm in a fast-paced environment
– Flexibility, and a calm approach to changing situations
– Communication skills appropriate for engagement with team members at all levels
– Experience of a corporate structure with multiple stakeholders
– Strong track record of growing businesses and deploying strategic plans
