Title: Human Resources (HR) Generalist Location: Petaluma and/or Chicago Job Grade: 15
About the Role:
Key member of the Human Resources team. Maintains and enhances the organization’s strategic visions and culture by anticipating/planning for, implementing, and evaluating People policies, programs, and practices. Will represent HR to the teams on- site, focusing on ensuring a solid connection between the field and the corporate center. Reports directly to the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP).
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for working with HRBP to deploy a fully integrated People strategy, from acquisition to exit; serve as the face of HR to key department clients within the business; strong focus on Employee Relations, Recruitment, and Talent Management, with an eye to ensuring support across a host of key, critical roles.
• Maintain organization staff (Corporate, Field) by helping to execute against a regionalized recruiting, assessment, and interviewing program that ensures the right hire the first time; work directly with Talent Acquisition on accuracy of candidate profile and selection; manage core elements of the Recruitment process, conducts, and analyzes exit interviews information to identify trends and opportunities; recommends changes and improvements to existing processes
• Prepare employees for proper cultural assimilation, from Day #1, by establishing and conducting orientation and onboarding programs; help capture hearts and minds; serve as a Cultural Ambassador
• Work with managers to make coaching and development of employees a daily activity; develop and deliver foundational management training programs created by HRBP and Talent Management
• Act as key player in annual Merit Increase and Bonus programs, as well as other Reward &Recognition programs; drive awareness and adoption of broad Benefits offerings at this company
• Serve as a fairness advocate, hearing and resolving employee grievances, counsel employees and supervisors
• Help to deliver a company-wide “Training & Development” platform, which outlines base/foundational requirements,
provides clear career progression, and allows for opportunities to add and strengthen skills.
• Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements;
conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings, if required
• Support the HRBP (and store) with strong metrics and data analysis; work with various Centers of Expertise to help define
relevant measures, ensuring accuracy and timely deliver to key stakeholders in the store
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
• 4 – 6+ years of full cycle HR Generalist experience; previous experience in a multi-state/multi-facility business environment preferred
• In depth understanding of all components of the Human Resources offering, especially Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, and Talent Management; organized labor and/or union awareness experience a big plus
• Excellent understanding of HR systems, databases, and metrics; experience with metrics reporting a plus
• A strong bias to action; the ability to work efficiently and resourcefully in a hands-on fluid environment; Operational mindset
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Outstanding active listening skills; ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization
• Undergraduate degree required, MBA or advanced degree a plus
Key Stakeholders:
• Reports to HR Business Partner for given area of the business (Supply Chain, Commerce or Corporate Functions).
• Partners with HR Business Partners and HR Centers of Expertise.
• Consults and partners closely with employees at every level within business unit.
Physical Requirements:
• Occasional travel required.
• Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator; work is typical office environment (by Lagunitas standards).
