The Financial Planning Analyst position offers a unique opportunity for an individual to oversee a variety of tasks that are an integral part of companies operations. In addition, the Financial Planning Analyst creates and analyzes business models and their association with operational growth projections and financial needs to support the present and future vision of the organization. This position is full-time (exempt) and reports to the Chief Operating Officer; the job will be based in Sacramento/Davis, CA(however, special consideration may be given for candidates in the Bay Area who have prior, proven experience delivering successfully in a hybrid-virtual role). This individual will play an essential role in the Operations team. This role is highly collaborative, which requires a demonstrated ability to coordinate projects with cross-functional teams and manage various processes and schedules to meet project goals.

  • In collaboration with the COO, develop a comprehensive financial management plan [including the eventual implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system] and support the COO in regular stakeholder meetings (including Board updates) to keep interested parties updated on strategic financial and budgetary progress
  • Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, and valuation comps and synthesize market and business trends to inform the financial strategy portion of Unfold’s business model and market approach
  • Develop and implement financial performance metrics (KPIs) and dashboards to track corporate performance for functional leaders while ensuring consistent communication and education around discrepancies (budget versus actuals) and variance analysis
  • Work with functional leads to update the budget each month with forecasts and, no less than annually, update the long-term operational model
  • Create and own the company’s financial and budgetary-focused policies and procedures pertaining to internal operations and ensure compliance with them across the organization
  • Oversee and maintain a working relationship with third-party accounting firm
  • Develop ad hoc financial models for business opportunities, including sensitivity analysis that challenges assumptions and helps to further refine such models
  • Provide cost savings and operational efficiency recommendations (e.g., automated reporting and/or forecasting tools) to improve organizational financial acumen and performance; work to constantly refine the company’s operating model
  • Evaluate proposed capital expenditures and depreciation
  • Identify, implement and oversee ongoing solutions to manage contracts across the organization
  • Address potential financial risk by identifying and analyzing specific and corporate-wide mitigation strategies
  • Adapt to open flow of work and wide range of additional duties as prioritized by the COO

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with financial analysis and budgeting and proven ability to translate financial and technical data into informative, decision-oriented reports
  • Advanced skills and in-depth professional experience using Excel and data visualization software for data management, analysis, and strategic decision making
  • Excellent (written and oral) communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across various teams and levels of the organization are essential
  • Significant experience with ERP systems (specifically NetSuite)
  • Demonstrated ability to practice discretion and confidentiality
