DIrector of Corporate Engineering


The Director, Corporate Engineering will have overall responsibility for management and leadership of the Engineering Team, and for simultaneously executing multiple, complex projects from evaluation through implementation stages. This role will work closely with the Maintenance, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Environmental, Health and Safety Teams to deliver reliable solutions for the organization to meet and exceed bottling reliability goals while supporting strategic equipment reliability initiatives. This individual must also ensure collaboration, commitment and ownership from Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Processing and Supply Chain with projects from start to finish. This role delivers effective results by implementing process improvements, identifying, and managing capital projects, as well as manufacturing support systems. The results of this individual will be measured by process reliability improvements, capacity analysis, packaging innovation, safety risk reduction, cost savings opportunities, leadership abilities, and the initiative to study the manufacturing system and results to recommend and/or determine projects that can improve overall productivity and quality.

Job Duties:

• Implements practices and methods to increase manufacturing productivity
• Analyzes systems, processes and results to define and/or recommend changes to manufacturing systems and processes to increase productivity
• Plans and recommends capital equipment purchases to support and improve manufacturing processes
• Monitors implementation of capital projects to ensure that standards and expectations for each objective are completed as planned
• Negotiates pricing for capital projects and equipment purchases
• Ensures that projects are properly planned to provide detailed objectives and sufficient funding to ensure stated results and deliverables are achieved
• Identify and secure all resources to successfully execute the project in the most cost-effective and sustainable manner
• Offer recommendations to system and equipment designs to increase productivity, reliability sustainability and reduce cost
• Maintain clear communication of project goals throughout the plant and with executive/leadership team to encourage participation, support and to ensure that scheduling deadlines and budgets are met
• Work with operations, quality and maintenance to provide technical support in the design, development, purchase, installation, start-up, operation, maintenance, and improvement of equipment to support continuous improvement and equipment reliability
• Lead, coach and develop (4) direct reports
• Willingness to “roll up” sleeves and work directly with team members to get the job done
• Ensure a safe working environment for all employees through the commitment to company safety policies and procedures
• Ensure high-quality standards by supporting and advancing quality systems
• Consults with State and Local agencies, along with legal counsel, on permitting and zoning matters
• Leads the procurement, as needed, for land and other real estate property to support future growth and expansion

• Proven leadership skills with ability to engage and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization to ensure appropriate buy-in
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts
• Must be highly analytical and possess excellent problem-solving skills
• Possess excellent negotiation skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
• Proficient with AutoCad
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Must be a highly motivated and self-directed individual

• Working knowledge of Quality Operating Systems (ISO, HACCP, GMP, etc.)
• Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and zoning regulations

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
• Master’s Degree in Business or related field, Preferably MBA
• Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification
• Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Previous experience in the distilled spirits industry
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or related engineering discipline)
• Minimum five years’ experience in Engineering Leadership and Project Management
• Ability to effectively lead in a union environment
• Managerial experience in a work environment with proven engineering processes
• Ability to engage employees to ensure continuous improvement culture
