Job Title: Business Development Manager – C Store
Location for the position: open
Summary: Open new franchised/licensed/frozen brand locations, thus providing growth and profit to company. Solicit and open new stores that meet our business criteria in the assigned territory through follow-up on leads provided by company and by developing prospects through travel, face to face meetings, and telephone contacts with potential franchisees/licensees.
Job Duties: • Individual executes company sales approach, contract/purchase negotiations and agreements for franchise/license/frozen brand locations in accordance with Company policies, procedures, federal, state and local regulations. • Manages multi-unit franchise sales opportunities to ensure that both individual quotas and company’s financial objectives are met. • Meets or exceeds key performance indicators to successfully open a pre-determined number of new locations each year. • Keeps the VP of Franchise Development informed of all sales contacts and other pertinent activity in assigned territory. Complete activity and update weekly in CRM system. • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from leads, business directories, company activity, trade shows, as well as cold calls, and other sources as required. • Travels throughout assigned territory conducting cold calls and following up on leads provided. • Follows new store opening process to efficiently open new franchise C store locations. • Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or sales presentations, and emphasizes salable features, partnering with local operations franchise business consultant. • Draw new store layouts, installs traffic counters, quotes equipment prices, and credit terms and present sales contracts. • Confirms date of store opening with store operator, based on knowledge of the store operator and schedule. Coordinate with new business coordinators in the home office. • Prepares reports of business transactions and follow policy filing expense reports. • Responsible to become thoroughly familiar with and adhere to federal, state, and local laws pertaining to franchise sales and disclosure information. • Other duties as assigned. Experience and Education Competencies • Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience: 5 years of wholesale or sales experience in food industry required. o Must have a business/financial understanding of fast food and/or convenience stores. o Must be hands on and pragmatic, with business sense. o Must have exceptional personal/human relationship skills. o Must be energetic, self-motivated and success oriented personality. o Must have a business/financial understanding of food concepts. o Individual must be able to drive and maintain a current/active driver’s license. Driver’s license must meet company’s driver expectation point standards. All company drivers have their MVR checked every 6 months for compliance. • Communication/Language Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Professional presentation and negotiation skills. • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as ROI, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, mileage and volume. • Technical Competencies: Proficient with Microsoft office suite-word/excel (intermediate skills) along with Databases, ACT or other Database Software preferred. Knowledge of web-based presentation tools preferred.
